The Raider yoyo is Yomega's high performance ball bearing axle yo-yo. It has been a best seller since its debut. This is, no doubt, attributed to its excellent performance for all tricks and excellent styling. The Raider yoyo has a good weight, a good string gap, and is perfect for intermediate as well as advanced players. Please note, the design may be different than the one shown on the picture above. Yomega changes the design frequently.

If you are buying a yoyo, don't forget to buy a yo-yo trick book to carry with you, a yoyo trick DVD for at home, and extra yoyo strings. Learning new tricks makes yoyoing much more fun, and you'll need extra strings, because they wear out with regular use.

The Raider was the yo-yo of choice by National and World Champions in the late 1990s, and is still a force to be reckoned with and a top seller even today. Why does it keep on selling and selling so many years after its introduction? To put it simply, because it's a pro quality yoyo for under $15 that can outperform yoyos that cost many times as much. Jennifer Baybrook won the 1998 World Yoyo Championship with the Raider. If someone wins a World Championship with it, then it becomes by definition a world class yoyo.

A bearing system engineered to provide the ultimate in response and speed is reason enough for this piece of equipment to be among the top guns in any serious player's bag of tricks. Yomega uses a numbering system for their yoyos called "Yo to Pro Level," which goes from 1 to 5. If a Yomega yoyo is numbered as 1, then it is the very easiest and simplest to use yoyo that is suitable for an absolute beginner. At the other end of the scale is a ranking of 5, which means that it requires advanced skills to be able to successfully use the yoyo. The Yomega yoyos at level 5 are typically non-responsive yoyos, which means that they do not wake up from sleeping unless you know how to perform a bind. Level 4 and 5 are both considered to be the Pro category.

The Yomega Raider is a 4 on the Yo to Pro Level scale. Anything listed as a 4 or 5 is considered to be Pro Level. What 4 means in this case is that you’re going to get a yoyo that is designed to excel for all of the 1A and 2A (one handed and two handed) category yoyo tricks. It is not a level 5 because level 5 yoyos are designed to be non-responsive, where they don't wake up at all when you tug on the string unless you perform a bind. The Raider will respond to your tugs on the string, like a typical yoyo should.
