The orca is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member. They are highly social and can be found in each of the world's oceans in a variety of marine environments absent only from the Baltic and Black seas, and some areas of the Arctic Ocean.
The heart beats at a rate of about 60 beats/min when the orca is at the surface, dropping to 30 beats/min when submerged.
